May 2016 at Portland Community College Performing Arts Center, Portland OR.

...For the first time the sun kissed my own naked face and my soul was inflamed with love for the sun, and I wanted my masks no more, And as if in a trance I cried: “Blessed , blessed are the thieves who stole my masks.” Thus I became a madman.
— Khalil Gibran, The Madman

I created this work for/on/with the Dance Performance Students at Portland Community College in Spring of 2016. Together, we were inspired by Khalil Gibran's work: The Madman. We questioned what it means to wear a mask, the different ones we display each day, and the meanings and contradictions they offer us. We danced concepts of darkness and light, separation and unity, despair and joy.
